Open Call for Submissions
Attachment Devices | #01 in the Residual Series
Stringer Contemporary invites submissions for its first online exhibition - Attachment Devices.
We are interested in work that examines the aftereffects of consumption —psychological, material, and cultural.
This can be overt or restrained. What matters is an awareness of how images operate: how they hold attention, shape behavior, and circulate within larger systems of influence.
Practices that engage with tension, repetition, attachment, and transformation are particularly relevant.
Attachment Devices is structured for the screen—an environment where images circulate, repeat, and attach.
We invite submissions that engage with this condition intentionally, using digital space not simply as a delivery system but as part of the work itself.
This exhibition focuses on still and loop-based formats suited for online viewing.
Accepted media includes digital photography, digital collage, GIFs, short-form animation, sound, 3D renderings, and digitally translated or documented works. Repetition, compression, fragmentation, and looping are not constraints—they are part of the language.
Film and traditional narrative video are intentionally excluded from this exhibition, held for a forthcoming program returning in a different form.
Artists working in physical media are encouraged to submit work that has been thoughtfully adapted for the screen. Documentation should function as an extension of the work considered, not incidental.
This is a curated exhibition, but an open invitation. We’re looking for work that resonates and lingers—work that understands its presence within a network while maintaining its own distinct voice.
Selected works will be included in an ongoing digital archive of the Residual Program Series.
